Converting this 1930s 50-story commercial building to residential use added 566 much needed residential units to the Financial District in New York City. The design upholds the original character of the building and iconic history with Art Deco inspirations in pattern, surface texture, and rich materials, while also providing retail and amenities previously lacking in the neighborhood. By reusing the existing structure embodied carbon was preserved and the construction carbon footprint was greatly reduced in comparison to new construction.
