The main contractor is the supervisory contractor of all construction work on a project, management of sub-contractors and vendors, etc. May be referred to as "Construction Manager," however, for consistency CTBUH uses the term "Main Contractor" exclusively.
Material Supplier refers to organizations which supplied significant systems/materials for a building project (e.g. elevator suppliers, facade suppliers, etc).
Charged with creating an iconic hub for the Qatar Navigation Company, the designers of this tower considered the environmental conditions in conjunction with sleek and elegant lines to create the slender, curving shape of the building. The overall form is straightforward, but showcases the detail of a curved cutout. The expansive east and west façades have a high-performance glazing system while the carved lozenge-shaped north and south façades feature solar shades.
The layout of the tower was meant to be logical and utilitarian, with 1,000–1,200 square meter floor plates for offices. The arrangement allows for maximum daylight penetration to work spaces while increasing flexibility and providing views of the surrounding skyline and sea. The podium of the tower houses a large parking garage and recreational center which is topped by a 2,500 square meter planted garden.
