Founded in 1970, New World Development Company Limited (""New World Group"", Stock Code: 17.HK) was publicly listed in Hong Kong in 1972 and is a constituent stock of the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index.
A diversified holding company with a focus on property development, New World Group’s core business areas include property development, infrastructure and service, department store and hotel, boasting businesses in over 50 cities with a total asset value of over HK$300 billion. The three listed companies under New World Group are New World China Land Limited, NWS Holdings Limited and New World Department Store China Limited.

In early June 2023, CTBUH President Dr. Antony Wood and CTBUH Asia Regional Director Dr. Peng Du traveled to China and spoke at events in four cities: Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Wuxi, and Shanghai. At each event, the CTBUH mission and upcoming CTBUH conferences in Asia were introduced, and Wood gave a presentation on "10 Principles for a New High Rise Architecture."

CTBUH has certified the completion of Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre. At 530 meters it is the tallest building in Guangzhou, second tallest in China, and fifth tallest worldwide.
