About Eastern Harbor International Tower

Sited on a plot of land in Shanghai that offers dramatic views of the Pudong and Bund districts, the new tower involved the remediation of a brownfield site to take full advantage of the location. Beginning with the site overhaul, the sustainability of the development became a feature of the building, and is now the first LEED Core & Shell certified Gold high-rise office building in Shanghai.

To meet the LEED criteria, the design called for several innovative and sustainable features: a rooftop garden, solar shades on the building exterior, a rainwater harvesting system, and, finally, building-integrated photovoltaics, which contribute 12.5% of the total building energy need. The overall form and materiality of the tower was dictated by environmental conditions, with orientation and transparency being considered to optimize solar exposure.

In addition, the building offers a variety of amenities including a swimming pool, health club, and retail space, with a restaurant located on the roof, 120 meters above ground level.
